Sharon J. Magan PhD, CRNP
Sharon is a board certified family nurse practitioner and board certified mental health specialist (FNP-BC and PMHCNS-BC). She completed a (MSN) master’s degree in family health nursing at Duquesne University and PhD in nursing science at New York University. Her academic research focused on understanding the connections between creativity, life changes and health. She has studied how people heal with chronic illnesses in both academic and practice settings for over 40 yrs.
In 2000 she completed a second master’s degree at Clarion-Slippery Rock University and became a board certified family nurse practitioner. She completed an intensive course of study in integrative and functional medicine and is certified practitioner through the Institute for Functional Medicine. Dr Magan has conducted federally funded IRB approved research on obesity and chronic illness and has a special interest in fat resistance and hormone imbalance. She has studied compulsive and addictive behaviors in substance abuse, food, and sexuality.
